MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit Laboratory Technologist Jobs

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the study coordinator, the position holder will perform analyses and report results
of the laboratory procedures performed to the supervisor.

Roles & Responsibilities

Handles samples and performs analyses according to the approved Standard Operating Procedures.

Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function
through routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, monitoring quality control
measures and protocols.

Identifies and communicates abnormal patient results by alerting supervisory personnel,
clinician or other appropriate personnel.

Identifies and records non-conformances on Corrective Action Requests.

Identifies and records potential non-conformances.

Corrects potential and non-conformances.

Writes technical Standard Operating Procedures.

To train, supervise and encourage the technical development of Assistant Laboratory Technologists.

Person Specification

Bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory technology (or equivalent).

Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in clinical laboratory in a medical research setting.

Should have good practical skills in the required clinical laboratory techniques.

Equipment troubleshooting skills / GCLP/ documentation skills.

Should possess a current Allied Health Professions licence.

Should possess computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Access & Power point.

Great communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills.
