M.P. Shah Hospital Cardiac Sonographer Jobs in Kenya
Duties & Responsibilities
Generate high‑quality diagnostic images by accurately positioning transducer, monitoring display, adjusting beam strength and focus, detecting artifacts, and recording images.
Perform ECG, 2D echocardiograms, advanced echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms.
Assist in dobutamine stress echocardiogram and contrast echocardiography for both in‑ and outpatients.
Write echocardiogram reports, to be countersigned by the cardiologist.
Assist cardiologists in performing Trans‑Esophageal Echo (TEE).
Promote patient care and comfort by preparing patients for procedures, explaining exam steps, answering questions, and providing assistance.
Facilitate clinical decision‑making by producing measurements of heart wall, chamber size, blood flow direction and velocity, and comparing to established norms.
Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including history, lab results, and physician orders.
Ensure patient safety by adhering to infection‑control protocols, administering first aid, and aiding emergency teams.
Achieve quality assurance by completing preventive maintenance, calibrating equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining inventories.
Reduce turnaround times by prioritizing, coordinating, and scheduling patients, ensuring timely issuance of reports.
Collaborate with biomedical engineers to ensure prompt equipment maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of tests carried out, ensuring correct data entry on computer systems, report forms, and registers.
Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members for patient care.
Participate in unit‑based continuing education and quality control programs.
Assist the manager in data collection and monitoring of unit‑based quality and performance indicators.
Participate in departmental events such as public screenings, medical camps, heart day activities, and conferences.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Degree in Radiography or Diploma in Radiography plus Higher Diploma/Certificate in Echocardiography from a reputable institution.
Registration with the relevant professional body.
Valid certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Valid certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
