Mount Kenya University Part-Time Trainers in Marine Engineering Jobs


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Marine Engineering or related field.

  • Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Marine Engineer Officer (STCW III/2 or III/3).

  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with IMO Model Courses and STCW requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in marine propulsion systems, thermodynamics, electrical systems, hydraulics, and shipboard maintenance.

  • Conduct practical training in engine room simulators and workshops.

  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW standards.

  • Guide and mentor students in academic and professional development.

  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.

  • Support students in preparation for certification exams and onboard training.

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the marine engineering curriculum.

  • Integrate modern technologies and industry practices into training modules.

  • Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.

  • Collaborate with other trainers, academic staff, and industry stakeholders.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.
