Mount Kenya University Lecturer, Special Needs Education - Hearing Impairments Jobs in Kenya


Qualifications, Education, Skills & Experience

  • PhD in Special Needs Education (Hearing Impairments) from a recognized institution.

  • Master’s Degree in Special Needs Education (Hearing Impairments) from a recognized institution.

  • Bachelor of Education (Special Needs Education) with specialization in Hearing Impairment Education.

  • Minimum 3 years’ teaching experience at university level.

  • Registration by the relevant professional body.

    Key Responsibilities

    Reporting to: Dean, School of Education

  • Participate in curriculum development and review.

  • Prepare course outlines to guide effective delivery and syllabus coverage.

  • Develop learning content to ensure adequate coverage of course outlines.

  • Teach undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses.

  • Set, invigilate and administer examinations; provide progressive reports to the department.

  • Supervise students’ projects and attend defense meetings to support completion of studies.

  • Conduct research, prepare publications and participate in conferences to disseminate knowledge.

  • Attract funding to support university research initiatives.

  • Facilitate field studies and assess students during attachments, trips and internships.

  • Participate in official university meetings and functions.

  • Monitor class attendance to ensure students meet the required four‑fifths lecture attendance before examinations.

  • Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.
