Mombasa County Public Service Board Director Solid Waste Management Jobs in Kenya


Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Public Administration or related field; Master’s Degree in relevant field from recognized institution

Experience

Minimum 5 years in solid waste management, environmental management or related field, including at least 3 years in supervisory/management position

Job Description

  • Provide overall strategic leadership and direction for solid waste management services in the county.

  • Oversee implementation of county solid waste management plan, policies, strategies and programmes.

  • Supervise and coordinate functions of Deputy Directors (Field Services and Recycling & Disposal Management).

  • Coordinate development of departmental work plans, budgets, programmes and performance targets.

  • Oversee integrated solid waste collection, transportation, recycling, recovery, treatment and disposal services.

  • Monitor performance of solid waste management services and implement measures to improve service delivery.

  • Oversee management and development of solid waste management infrastructure, facilities, equipment and assets.

  • Coordinate collaboration with county departments, national agencies, private sector, development partners and stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic leadership on waste reduction, recycling, resource recovery and sustainable initiatives.

  • Advise on solid waste management policy, infrastructure, service delivery and emerging sector issues.

  • Prepare and submit reports
    on solid waste management programmes, performance and service delivery.

    Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field from recognized institution.

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field from recognized institution.

  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in solid waste management, including 3 years in supervisory/management role.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of integrated solid waste management systems and legislation.

  • Membership in Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) or relevant professional body an added advantage.

  • Completion of Strategic Leadership Development Course (minimum six weeks) an added advantage.

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
