Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution

Experience

Served in the grade of Senior Superintending Engineer (Mechanical) or comparable position for at least 3 years

Description

  • Undertake consultancy services, equipment utilization and maintenance, planning and development functions.

  • Check and advise on standards for vehicles, plant and equipment.

  • Coordinate disposal of vehicles, plant, equipment and mechanical stores.

  • Standardize procurement procedures in line with procurement law.

  • Coordinate technical consultancy services with public and private institutions.

  • Control, direct and supervise equipment maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate preparation of expenditure forecasts for maintenance activities.

  • Monitor expenditure against approved votes.

  • Coordinate preparation of equipment maintenance progress and output reports.

  • Supervise inventories of vehicles, plant and equipment.

  • Monitor utilization and availability of vehicles, plant and equipment; implement measures to improve availability.

  • Oversee staff welfare and discipline within mechanical engineering function.

    Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Served in grade of Senior Superintending Engineer (Mechanical) or comparable position for at least 3 years.

  • Registration as Professional Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

  • Current valid annual practising licence from EBK.

  • Completion of Strategic Leadership Development Programme (minimum six weeks) an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated administrative ability for direction, control and implementation of mechanical programmes, including supervision of staff.
