Mombasa County Public Service Board Assistant Director Solid Waste Management - Recycling & Disposal Management Jobs in Kenya

Job Description

Plan and coordinate solid waste recycling, resource recovery, treatment and disposal programmes.

Implement departmental policies, strategies and procedures relating to recycling and disposal management.

Oversee operation and management of recycling, recovery, treatment and disposal facilities.

Ensure proper management and maintenance of solid waste facilities, equipment and assets.

Coordinate waste reduction, recycling, composting and resource recovery programmes.

Monitor operations at landfill, treatment, recycling and disposal facilities.

Implement best practices in waste recycling, recovery, treatment and disposal.

Monitor performance of recycling and disposal programmes and recommend corrective action.

Coordinate with field services on receipt and management of waste delivered to facilities.

Supervise staff responsible for recycling, recovery, treatment and disposal operations.

Coordinate stakeholder engagement with government agencies, private sector operators, recyclers and communities.

Prepare reports on recycling, recovery, treatment, landfill and disposal activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field from recognized institution.

At least 3 years’ relevant experience in solid waste management.

Demonstrated knowledge of recycling, recovery, treatment and disposal processes.

Knowledge of county and national legislation relating to solid waste management.

Completion of Strategic Leadership Development Course (minimum six weeks) an added advantage.

Membership in Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) or relevant professional body an added advantage.

Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
