Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Public Administration or related field

Experience

Minimum 3 years in solid waste management, waste collection, transportation, sanitation or environmental management

Job Description

  • Plan and coordinate solid waste collection, cleansing, source separation and transportation services.

  • Develop work plans and schedules for waste collection and cleansing services.

  • Implement departmental policies, strategies and procedures relating to field services.

  • Supervise staff involved in waste collection, cleansing, loading and transportation.

  • Coordinate deployment and utilization of waste collection vehicles and equipment.

  • Coordinate public education and stakeholder engagement on waste collection and responsible handling.

  • Monitor compliance with approved procedures and standards for waste handling, collection and transportation.

  • Coordinate field operations with stakeholders and service providers.

  • Monitor waste collection and cleansing performance and recommend corrective action.

  • Prepare reports on waste collection, transportation, fleet and field operations.

  • Advise on operational challenges and service delivery improvements.

    Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field from recognized institution.

  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in solid waste management.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of waste handling, collection and transportation operations.

  • Knowledge of county and national legislation relating to solid waste management.

  • Completion of Strategic Leadership Development Course (minimum six weeks) an added advantage.

  • Membership in Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) or relevant professional body an added advantage.

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
