Reporting to the Manager – Education Mission, the position is responsible for coordinating education programs and activities in the group of schools in their region of jurisdiction.

The position holder will ensure quality delivery of programs and maintenance of high professional standards of all MOHI Education programs.

Duties and responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Provide leadership to staff at the centre/school through supervision, coaching, mentoring as well as nurturing teamwork and cultivating a work environment conducive to continuous learning, innovation and improvement. This will ensure efficiency and excellence in service delivery
  • Coordinate the preparation of work plans and annual budgets for the centres/schools in their region of jurisdiction.
  • Facilitate effective communication between schools in the region of jurisdiction and the head office.
  • Ensure quality and standards of education in MOHI are upheld.
  • Ensure adherence to standards established by MOHI for education and compliance with government policies and practices.
  • Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
  • Collating and analysing performance data and charts for the regions against defined parameters.
  • Represent MOHI in education conferences and forums
  • Implementation of Activities and Projects
  • Ensure that all centres/school activities are implemented in accordance with the approved work plans and with the involvement of concerned stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ensure program activities are implemented in the most efficient, effective and sustainable manner.
  • Play a lead role in managing relationships with target beneficiaries, government departments/officials, communities and other

    key stakeholders in the regions.

  • Facilitate processes that ensure awareness creation, capacity building and developing community ownership of MOHI projects and activities in the schools/centres in their regions.
  • Facilitate collection and documentation of information and experiences for sharing both within the organization and externally.
  • Facilitation of procurement of supplies (food, office supplies, school materials) through laid down procedures.
  • Management of Financial and Other resources
  • Ensure effective financial management in all schools in their regions covering revenue, expenditure, inventory and receivables.
  • Ensure that funds received by the various Schools within the region are properly accounted for and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate preparation of annual budgets for the Schools/Centres.
  • Maintain effective controls of expenditure by the Schools/Centres.
  • Ensure good stewardship and prudent management and use of resources allocated for activities/projects undertaken in the Schools/Centres.
  • Coordinate resource mobilization and fundraising activities in Schools/Centres in the regions of jurisdiction as authorized by the Executive Director.

    Management of Staff

  • Act as a link between staff in Schools/Centres within the region and the Head Office Management.
  • Keep staff informed of relevant decisions and any developments within the organization as disseminated from Head Office.
  • Ensure effective supervision of staff at the schools/Centres, and timely handling of grievance and disciplinary issues.
  • Undertake periodic evaluation of supervised staff and make specific recommendations on performance outcomes.
  • Undertake periodic assessment of workload in different departments in the Centre/Schools and make staff requisitions based on
    need in consultation with the Head of Education programs and Human Resource Office.
  • Participate in shortlisting and recruitment of ‘A’ players.
  • Ensure staff motivation and teamwork at the centres/school levels.

    Risk Management

  • Enforce occupational health and safety measures and regulations as per approved procedures.
  • Undertake routine inspections of MOHI facilities to ensure compliance with risk policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the periodic assessment and audit of centres and school premises and facilities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Provide oversight on compliance with regulatory requirements by all Centres and Schools in the region of jurisdiction.
  • Ensure all incidents and occurrences at the centre/school level are documented and reported promptly to the relevant authority.
  • Ensure high standards in the quality of food supplies, storage, preparation and serving.

    Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure that centre/school based monitoring data and information is collated regularly and made available to the Manager Education Mission for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • In collaboration with Head teachers and Principals, focus program data collection to generate practical information that can be used for ongoing program decision making while also capturing results at the impact level.
  • Submit monthly reports (and/or as may be required from time to time) outlining the achievements and challenges and capitalising on the outcomes achieved and documenting the lessons learnt.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Social Sciences or its equivalent.A Masters Degree is desirable.
  • Post graduate diploma in education and Project Management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in education sector/ organization leadership.

  • Strong Christian with demonstrated commitment, and active involvement in church.
  • Strong analytical, communication, dynamic thinking skills and result oriented.
  • Very good knowledge in financial and resource management.
  • Strong skills in monitoring and evaluation of education programs.
  • Strong communication and public relation skills.
  • Excellent technological orientation and change management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work with people at different levels including children, community members, church leaders, and donor agencies.
  • Ability to develop, nurture and maintain productive networks.
  • Must have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding management and administration abilities.
