Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies Clerk of Works Jobs in Kenya;MEDS is undertaking construction of a warehousing facility for Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) and an office block in Kisumu County. The Clerk of Works ensures construction meets project plans, specifications, safety standards and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor construction works for compliance with drawings, specifications and standards.

  • Inspect and verify materials delivered/used on site.

  • Monitor workmanship across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing works.

  • Maintain detailed site records (daily diaries, defect registers, instruction books).

  • Liaise between architect, project manager, consultants, contractors and management.

  • Report deviations/defects promptly; follow up corrective measures.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements for HPT handling (GMP, GSP, GDP).

  • Identify potential problems proactively; advise on technical issues and solutions.

  • Prepare and submit progress reports on work, quality and site conditions.

    Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.

  • Professional certification/membership with relevant body.

  • Minimum 5 years’ supervision experience in large‑scale projects.

  • Strong knowledge of construction codes, standards and statutory requirements.

  • Familiarity with HSE requirements.

  • Technical skills: record keeping, report writing, MS Office, project management software (MS Project/Primavera).

  • Behavioural attributes: integrity, communication skills, attention to detail, teamwork, independence.
