Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development Counselor Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans holding a Diploma in Psychology; or Social Work; or Counseling from a recognized University/Institution.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in Psychology and counseling in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable Organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Probation and Welfare Officer for performing the following duties:-

Working with individuals to improve mental health;

Encouraging children to discuss emotions and experiences;

Examining issues including substance abuse, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, self-image, stress and suicide;

Helping children define goals, plan action and gain insight;

Developing therapeutic processes;

Taking a holistic (mind and body) approach to mental health care;

Listening to children’s concerns, empathizing with them and helping them to see things more clearly or in a different way;

Diagnosing children’s mental and emotional disorders;

Creating effective treatment plan that includes counselling, medication or other services;

Recording the progress and changing their treatment plan when needed;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
