Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development Principal Energy Officer – Bio Energy Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (chemical); or Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Forestry); Biological Sciences plus a Masters Degree in Renewable Energy with a bias in Biomass Technologies from a recognized University /Institution.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Energy Officer in Government or equivalent level of relevant experience from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Bio-Energy for performing the following duties:-

Supervising extension work by staff involved in the dissemination of bio- energy;

Preparing and implementing the activities on energy farming, co-generation, biogas, biomass fuel efficient appliances (stoves, Ovens, Kilns), briquette, gasification, and interlocking soil stabilized blocks, and biofuel potentials and technology;

Preparing and submitting technical the section work plan, budgets and strategic plans to Assistant Commissioner;

Preparing and disseminating technical information and guidelines on energy farming,

co-generation, biogas, biomass fuel efficient appliances (stoves, Ovens, Kilns), briquette, gasification, and interlocking soil stabilized blocks, and biofuel potentials and technology;

Coordinating stake holders dealing in bio energy technologies for technology development through research and development;

Participating in the development of standards for the bio energy technologies;

Preparing and submitting technical reports to the Assistant Commissioner;

Supervising and appraising the staff in the unit;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
