Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Senior Veterinary Inspector - Inland Quarantine Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine plus a minimum of a Post Graduate qualification in the above field from a recognized University/ Institution

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in the field of Veterinary at Veterinary Inspector level, in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Veterinary Inspector-Animal Movement Control for performing the following duties

Initiating strategies and plans for installation and use of internal quarantine infrastructure of animal holding grounds; and enforcement of declared animal quarantine restrictions due to various diseases in the country;

Drafting quarantine restriction orders/declarations, prohibitions for all diseases and dog tie orders and quarantine/tie order lifting instruments for the Commissioner Animal Health/ Chief Veterinary Officer under the Animal Diseases Act and Rabies Acts;

Planning for production and issuance of District Veterinary Permits/ District Animal Health Certificates to District Veterinary Officers through the Senior Veterinary Inspectors-Zones;

Managing data from the used local/import/export veterinary permits for analysis and action;

Sensitizing stakeholders on quarantine restrictions, veterinary permits and consequences of noncompliance;

Mobilising Veterinary Inspectors and all stakeholders to enforce quarantine restrictions and dog tie orders;

Preparing and presenting reports to the Supervisor;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
