Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Senior Fisheries Officer - Microbiology Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries;

or Zoology;

or Aquatic Biology; or Food Science and Technology from a recognized University or Institution.

A Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields from a recognized University/ Institution will be an added advantage.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in the field of Fisheries and Development at Fisheries Officer level in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Fisheries Inspector- Laboratories for performing the following duties:

Carrying out daily quality assurance procedures;

Receiving and appropriately storing samples for testing;

Preparing media prior to sample analysis and testing;

Analysing samples and preparing reports;

Carrying out internal calibrations and following up for external calibration;

Providing technical support to facilitate prompt procurement of consumables, reagents and media;

Following up on the laboratory accreditation by SANAS;

Preparing a quarterly status report and submitting to the supervisor;

Carrying out incidental work relating to Uganda Fisheries Laboratory;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
