Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Senior Entomologist Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Zoology and Botany with an option in Entomology from a recognized University/Institution.

A Post Graduate Diploma in the above fields will be an added advantage.

Working Experience

Applicants should have three (3) years relevant working experience in the field of Entomology at Officer level in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Entomologist, Sericulture for performing the following duties:

Planning, coordinating and undertaking national tsetse/tick surveillance, control and eradication activities;

Assessing levels of success and economic impact of tsetse and tick control measures employed;

Collecting data on tsetse and tick infestation, population density and species composition on a regular basis and updating the National Animal disease Vector data base;

Providing technical back-up on control of tsetse flies, ticks and other livestock biting flies;

Carrying out awareness programs on tsetse flies and Trypanosomiasis, ticks and tick-borne diseases at all levels;

Preparing work plans, budgets and reports pertaining to tsetse fly and tick control activities

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
