Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Senior Entomologist - Apiculture Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Botany; or Zoology with an option in Entomology from a recognized University/ Institution.

A Post Graduate qualification in any of the above fields will be an added advantage.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in the field of Productive Entomology at Officer Level in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Entomologist, Apiculture for performing the following duties:

Promoting and supporting production of beehive products as income generating activities for agricultural rural communities;

Establishing and maintaining a reliable apiculture data base;

Providing technical guidance on apiculture production to Local Government extension staff;

Encouraging and supporting formation of bee farmer groups and assisting private associations for apiculture expansion;

Liaising with National Agricultural Research Organization to undertake development and supportive research in the apiculture industry;

Preparing workplans, budgets and reports and submitting them to the Supervisor;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
