Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Senior Agricultural Inspector - Seed Testing Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture; or Crop Science plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture /Crop Science from a recognized University/Institution

Working Experience

Applicants should have three (3) years relevant working experience in the field of agriculture or crop science at the level of Agricultural Inspector in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Agricultural Inspector, Seed Testing and Certification for performing the following duties:

Carrying out trials for distinctiveness, uniformity and stability to ascertain genetic purity;

Establishing Value for Cultivation and Use (VCU);

Regularly checking on existing varieties to verify their trueness to-type;

Inspecting seed fields during crop growth to ensure the standards for isolation, rouging (wherever applicable), use of male sterility (wherever applicable);

Implementing preventive programmes for seed borne diseases to increase seed quality and productivity;

Training staff and other stakeholders;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
