Minimum Qualification Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in either Electronic Engineering; or Electrical Engineering; or Telecommunications Engineering; or Communications Engineering from a recognized University / Institution plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above related fields of training from a recognized University / Institution.
Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning or any Management related qualification from a recognized University / Institution will be an added advantage. Applicants should be registered with the Engineers Registration Board.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Senior ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Cables) in Government or an equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, ICT Infrastructure Development for performing the following duties:-
Documenting, developing and managing ICT Infrastructure Blue print (Geo-referenced map detailing the ICT Infrastructure in the country and future requirements);
Developing and documenting technical specification and accessibility procedures for utilization of national fibre backbone by third parties (broadcasters, telecommunications operators etc);
Providing technical guidance and
support assistance to Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments in matters relating to ICT infrastructure developments;
Conducting desk research and studies on technological advances and trends on cabling infrastructure;
Participating in formulating, monitoring and evaluation of implementation of Legislations, Policies, Plans and strategies for cabled networks;
Participating in evolving sound policies, recommendations and strategies to be taken account of by Government during implementation of emerging infrastructure service delivery technologies in Uganda;
Providing technical advice to the Government on all matters concerning development and management of cable technology infrastructure in the country;
Supervising and appraising of subordinate staff;
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
