Mercy Corps Kenya Audit Jobs; Mercy Corps seeks to hire a firm to conduct the statutory audit and assist with preparation of financial statements for its operations in Kenya for fiscal year 2025/2026. The successful firm will conduct the audit in our Nairobi office with possibility of travel to one or more of the field offices within Kenya. This engagement will be led by the Finance & Compliance Manager for Mercy Corps Kenya and Finance Director Mercy Corps AgriFin, supported by Mercy Corps Kenya and Mercy Corps AgriFin Finance, People and Culture, and Operations/Procurement team.
Scope of Work
Conduct audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing and local NGO practices.
Assist with preparation and review of financial statements.
Perform transaction testing and verification of assets and liabilities.
Assess adequacy and accuracy of accounting and internal control systems.
Establish whether proper books of accounts have been maintained.
Adhere to professional auditing standards adopted in Kenya.
Demonstrate staff capacity and sound knowledge of NGO accounting.
Demonstrate knowledge of NGO sector operations.
Review multicurrency transactions and issue financial statements in KES and USD.
Apply sound knowledge of project management issues in humanitarian and development interventions.
Ensure professional conduct and adherence to Mercy Corps values and code of conduct.
Duration of Assignment
Fiscal year period: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
Audit to be conducted after year end (June 30, 2026).
Reporting and Coordination
Firm will report to Finance & Compliance Manager (Mercy Corps Kenya) and Finance Director (Mercy Corps AgriFin).
Supported by Finance, People & Culture, and Operations/Procurement teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Legally registered and licensed.
At least 5 years of experience in statutory audit and financial statement preparation.
Demonstrated experience with NGOs and similar assignments.
Adequate technical capacity and qualified staff.
Financial stability.
References from previous clients.
