Mennonite Central Committee International Exchange Coordinator Jobs in Uganda; This role primarily supports and mentors young adult volunteers ages 18‑30, known as Global Service Learning (GSL) participants, while facilitating their orientation and learning activities.
Active Leadership Responsibilities
Recruit up to 6 GSL candidates from Uganda to serve in MCC programs in and out of Africa, including vetting applications, conducting interviews, shortlisting, and follow‑up.
Support outgoing GSL candidates with placement, protocol issues, family meetings, in‑country orientation, intentional follow‑up during service, and re‑entry debrief.
Convene GSL Alumni gatherings in Uganda and manage alumni relations.
Develop up to 10 job descriptions for GSL participants with MCC Uganda partners and other organizations; draft MOUs for each placement; share decisions with Reps and Program Coordinators.
Lead the placement process in Uganda, making hiring and placement decisions jointly with Reps.
Identify and orient host families, prepare MOUs, and ensure expectations are clear.
Lead in‑country orientation for incoming GSL volunteers and final debrief before end of service.
Serve as primary point of contact for GSLers during their terms, with weekly check‑ins for emotional, moral, professional, and logistical support.
Share responsibility with MCC Regional GSL Coordinator to host global Orientation and Re‑entry conferences when held in Uganda.
Organize and facilitate occasional learning
tours and staff visits from MCC global colleagues as requested.
Qualifications
Commitment to personal Christian faith, discipleship, active church membership, and nonviolent peacemaking.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Community Development, Project Management, International Relations, Education or related field.
At least five years of relevant NGO experience.
Excellent people skills, with ability to mentor young adults with wisdom and empathy.
Cross‑cultural experience (in Uganda or abroad).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
English fluency, both written and spoken.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Legal right to work in Uganda.
