  • Meharry Medical College Global Health and HIV Clinical Services is a consortium of the HBCU project and is currently implementing projects aimed at improving the quality of care for mothers and babies in selected Ministry of Health (MOH) healthcare facilities in the country.

  • Meharry is working on expanding its work to additional MOH facilities.

  • As a result of this expansion, the project is recruiting for the following full-time positions to be based at the scale up sites in Lusaka.

    Data Manager – Four (4) positions

    Reporting to the Senior Data Manager, .

    The Data Manager will:

    • Manage and maintain paper and electronic records gathered from the facility.

    • Harmonize the data across multiple platforms, i.e., HTC/ART, Smartcare, HMIS, eSCMIS (formerly eLMIS), patient charts and registries in MCH.

    • Organize, verify, upload, and analyzing data.

    • Plan and implement software upgrades by maintaining, evaluating, and improving process efficiency of the system.

    • Serve as the primary liaison with data management specialist in Meharry supported sites regarding the transfer and uploading data.

    • Ensure timely collection and reporting of data reports on all required indicators.

    • Provide routine feedback on 95:95:95 indicators for pediatric HIV to the facilities
    where Meharry is implementing activities.

    • Conduct routine Data Quality Audits to ensure high quality clinical data.

    • Provide technical assistance and mentorship to data management staff in the new sites of implementation.

    • Develop protocols to measure results and identification of problem areas in MCH at the facility.

    • Perform any other duties as assigned by Meharry Management.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Diploma in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related fields.

    • Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary databases and software.

    • At least 5 years’ experience working as a data manager.

    • Trained in Smartcare, HMIS operations, eSCMIS, and other Ministry of Health (MOH)-sanctioned electronic health record systems in Zambia.

    • Experience working with confidential and sensitive personal information.

    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities and meet deadlines.

    • Fluent in English; excellent written and oral communication skills, including facilitation and cross-cultural communication; attention to detail.

    • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
