This role is eligible for the Corporate Office Dual Workplace Arrangement.

This new way of work introduces a hybrid working model for Mediclinic Southern Africa (MCSA) Corporate Office employees.

Eligible employees will be required to be in the office (25 Du Toit Street, Stellenbosch) for two scheduled days a week and the other three days will be worked from home.

Main Purpose of Job

Provide ICU specialist nursing guidaince and technical assisstance to nurses, doctors and other clinical staff for the implementation, maintenance and optimisation of an Electronic Health Record system and other digital health applications to deliver quality healthcare quality healthcare within the devision.

This person, in conjuction with the Health Informatics team, is responsible for assuring the successful utilisation of information technology, primarily the EHR-system, to optimise ICU patient care delivery in collaboration with nurses, doctors and other clinical staff.

Key Responsibility Areas

Assist with the identification and procurement of an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, as well as other IT related clinical applications, that meet the nursing end user as well as Mediclinic’s clinical and patient care needs, within ICU

Manage the configuration, planning and implementation of the digital health systems (incl. EHR) and processes, within the ICU domain, throughout the division

Ensure effective configuration, utilisation and optimisation of ICU digital health systems (incl. EHR)

Ensure compliance to legal and regulatory requirements

Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships

Required Education

Essential

Registered/Professional Nursing qualification

Nursing specialist qualification in ICU

Desired

Postgraduate degree/ qualification in health informatics

Required Experience

Essential Minimum

More than 5 years’ clinical experience in ICU

User experience with clinical, hospital and/ or financial applications/systems within a hospital system

Desired

Informatics experience with clinical information system implementation,

support and optimisation

Experience working on and/or implementing Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

2 – 3 years managerial and/or training experience in clinical environment

Work experience in the South African private healthcare sector

Experience in healthcare management

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

Clinical data analytics and reporting

Clinical governance and risk management

Data governance, standards and regulations affecting the practice of nursing

Health care information management principles

In-depth knowledge of ICU nursing and health care practices, clinical workflow, terminology and standards

IT Infrastructure components and integration standards

Knowledge of health information systems and other IT applications in support of clinical and business decisions

Nursing related informatics

Proficiency in the protocols, regulatory requirements and emerging trends around the management of electronic health records

Project management skills, tools and methodologies

Quality Improvement methodologies

Redesign of clinical processes to improve efficiency and patient care

Research, report writing and presenting

Systems thinking with understanding of the interactions and inter-dependencies of business information and events on the operational level

Training and facilitation methodologies
