Medecins Sans Frontieres Safeguarding Specialist Jobs in Kenya;The Safeguarding Specialist is responsible for supporting and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures at programming location in collaboration with different MSF Operational Entities.
This position will be hierarchically and functionally accountable to the Head of EDI & Safeguarding.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Lead or support administrative workplace investigations at HQ and programming contexts.

  • Follow up and address safeguarding concerns and challenges.

  • Build staff and affiliate capacity on safeguarding through trainings, workshops and risk assessments.

  • Develop materials with Behaviour/Safeguarding Unit to support capacity building.

  • Conduct safeguarding audits and support self‑assessments.

  • Carry out field visits/audit reports to review safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Conduct lessons‑learnt exercises as preventative measures.

  • Carry out surveys after workshops/trainings.

  • Support mainstreaming of safeguarding capacity at HQ/programming contexts.

  • Contribute to Unit’s Annual Plan and internal monitoring of objectives.

  • Support regional networking strategies for accountability and best practices.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Recognize, respond and document abuse or inappropriate behaviour; alert safeguarding unit.

  • Engage in self‑reflection and proactive EDI & Safeguarding knowledge development.

  • Integrate EDI & Safeguarding strategies into work responsibilities.

  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection Act, 2019 and enforce data protection policies.

  • Participate in performance management processes
    (objective setting, monitoring, evaluation).

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; safeguarding certification an advantage.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles for trainings and audits.

  • Ability to develop case strategies, conduct investigative interviews and deliver reports.

  • Fluency in English and French required; Kiswahili or other languages an advantage.

  • Cultural competence in African context highly desirable.

    Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in Safeguarding, Protection or GBV.

  • Proven experience in workplace investigations in humanitarian sector.

  • Experience supporting safeguarding trainings/workshops.

  • Experience in safeguarding audits/self‑assessments desirable.

  • Work experience in East or Central Africa highly desirable.

  • Experience advising on risks and mitigation in abuse investigations.
