Main Purpose of the Position

  • Together with his/her counterpart based in Dubai (principal investigator), participates in defining, planning and monitoring research study activities by overseeing the implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and follow-up of the study according to protocols, standards and procedures.
  • Supports and coordinates (when needed) human and material resources needed to ensure the quality of the quality of the study.

    Main Responsibilities

  • Under the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (based in Dubai), the study coordinator will oversee the implementation and coordination of the study:
  • Validation of a Novel Cervical Screening Strategy in Support of the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative, the HPV-Automated Visual Evaluation (PAVE) in Blantyre and Chiradzulu Districts.
  • He/she will coordinate the study team in the sites working closely with the MSF team in the field.
  • Reporting is to the Principal Investigator (PI) in Dubai, Epicentre, and to the Medical Program Coordinator in the MSF field site the study coordinator will be responsible for:
  • implementation and supervision
  • Prepare the study site with the support of the MSF team.
  • Work in close collaboration with the MSF team (medical, laboratory, logistic, human resources, and finance) on all aspects that concern the research that is fully embedded in MSF routine cervical cancer screening activity
  • Support the implementation of the medical and administrative study procedures (SOPs), data collection forms and electronic database.
  • Recruit the local study staff (if and when needed) with support of the MSF team.
  • Ensure that all study related activities are conducted in accordance with the study protocol and the principles of Good clinical practice
  • Organise the training of the study staff on the study related procedures

  • Participant inclusion and consenting
  • Data collection and entry
  • Adherence to MSF cervical cancer screening protocol that includes HPV genotype testing, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), imaging, and biopsy when indicated.
  • Patients follow up in accordance with the study protocol and study procedures
  • Ensure biological specimens’ collection is done according to study procedures, including storage, shipment, and receipt at laboratory.

    Data Management
  • Supervise data collection into electronic database and into paper source documents (if needed- study and programmatic patient files).
  • Monitor and supervise the quality of the collected data, including completeness and consistency.
  • Supervise the data entry into the electronic database, including data cleaning, consistency checks, response to data queries received from Epicentre headquarter.
  • Ensure that confidentiality of the data is ensured according to set study procedures.

    Reporting

  • Identify and report any protocol deviations
  • Participate in regular MSF team meetings to report on study progress and ensure close collaboration with MSF team.
  • Participate in regular meetings to report on study activities and provide regular progress reports to the Principal Investigator in Epicentre.
  • Support provision of interim reports

    Requirements
  • Education

  • Degree (or masters) in Epidemiology or Public Health with extensive training in statistics and epidemiology

    Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Program Implementation and or Medical Research.
  • Working experience with MSF or other NGOs.
  • Language
  • Very Good Command in English, Written and Spoken

    Knowledge

  • Experience with electronic study database software (DHIS2, REDCap or equivalent)
  • Experience in statistical software packages (STATA or R)
