Médecins Sans Frontières Nursing Care Advisor Jobs in Kenya; MSF Ubuntu, the newest Operational Directorate of Médecins Sans Frontières, is seeking a Nursing Care Advisor to provide strategic, technical, and implementation support across its programs. Grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu – “I am because we are” – this role will ensure the delivery of high‑quality, people‑centered nursing care that is respectful, ethical, safe, and effective, consistently embedded across MSF Ubuntu projects and country programs.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Strategic and Technical Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and monitor MSF Ubuntu nursing care strategies that promote people‑centered care.

  • Lead initiatives to improve clinical and nursing care in collaboration with technical advisors.

  • Identify, develop, and implement essential tools, guidelines, and documents related to nursing care.

  • Provide technical support to projects and country programs, recommending evidence‑based solutions.

  • Ensure high standards of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in collaboration with IPC advisors.

  • Maintain updated medical supply lists and catalogues in collaboration with pharmacy teams.

  • Contribute to MSF Ubuntu’s medical operational vision and strategies.

    Nursing Care Management and Service Organization
  • Develop tools and documents related to nursing care management, supervision, and resource organization.

    Program Support
  • Provide expert advice on patient care, nursing practices, and medical device use.

  • Support quality improvement processes using SIPCA, NQIs, and AMS Nursing Checklist.

  • Promote hand hygiene awareness and implementation.

  • Support country teams in defining nursing care strategies during project design and reviews.

  • Conduct briefings and debriefings with program and HQ staff.

  • Undertake country program visits as required.

    Nursing Competency Development
  • Identify priority nursing competencies and training needs.

  • Contribute to training strategies and learning activities.

  • Support implementation of training, mentoring, and supervision at project level.

  • Facilitate MSF Ubuntu and international MSF training courses.

    Representation and Coordination
  • Represent MSF Ubuntu in nursing platforms, communities of practice, and technical working groups.

  • Lead or contribute to thematic initiatives, workshops, and conferences.

  • Build networks with local institutions to promote collaboration and best practices.

    Capacity Building and People Management
  • Support recruitment, mentoring, and development of nursing staff and talent pools.

  • Collaborate with L&D and nursing platforms to promote knowledge sharing.

  • Facilitate workshops, webinars, and communities of practice.

  • Build program team capacity on nursing care standards and tools.

    Qualifications

    Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (BSc or MSc).

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Pediatrics and/or Neonatology (essential).

  • IPC certification is an asset.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

  • Experience in cross‑cultural communication and collaboration.

    Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in clinical nursing care with MSF or international humanitarian organizations.

  • Proven experience in nursing supervision, mentoring, and training.

  • Commitment to multicultural collaboration, equity, diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
