Rationale/Objective
The Donor Relationship Officer advances donor acquisition, cultivation, stewardship and growth across the region, with a particular focus on Islamic philanthropy.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Acquisition, Engagement & Stewardship
Support acquisition, engagement and stewardship for individual, corporate, foundation and major donors.
Build/manage personal portfolio of high‑value donors; develop tailored cultivation/stewardship plans.
Draft donor communications, thank‑you letters, impact reports and stewardship materials.
Plan donor touchpoints (meetings, events, briefings, site visits).
Track engagement outcomes and donor satisfaction; adjust approaches accordingly.
Islamic Philanthropy Strategy & Partnerships
Contribute to implementation of MSF EA’s Islamic philanthropy strategy.
Identify and build relationships with Zakat institutions, Waqf funds, mosques, Muslim foundations and diaspora networks.
Support Ramadan/Zakat fundraising appeals and campaigns.
Represent MSF in negotiations and partnerships with Islamic charitable organizations.
Ensure fundraising materials are culturally/theologically sensitive and aligned with Islamic giving principles.
Represent MSF at faith‑based and philanthropic forums to strengthen profile among Muslim donors.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
Identify/pursue new donor prospects and partnerships to grow income.
Develop funding proposals, concept notes and pitch materials.
Contribute to income diversification and long‑term donor pipeline planning.
Research, Reporting & Compliance
Lead prospect research on Islamic philanthropic organizations and
high‑net‑worth Muslim donors.
Maintain accurate donor records in CRM; ensure data quality.
Prepare briefing notes, performance reports and presentations.
Ensure compliance with MSF policy, due diligence and regulations.
Team & Organisational Contribution
Support interns/junior staff in Islamic philanthropy and donor relations.
Collaborate with Communications, Programmes and Finance to ensure donor materials reflect MSF’s impact.
Contribute to fundraising strategy, planning and improvement initiatives.
Represent MSF EA in MSF movement platforms when advised.
Competencies
Technical – Proven track record in donor relationship building and income growth. Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency an asset. Cultural/theological sensitivity; strong networking, negotiation and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Behavioural – Commitment to MSF principles; analytical thinking; planning and organizing; results orientation; teamwork; initiative; networking; service orientation; ethics.
Languages
Fluency in English required. Arabic proficiency an asset.
