Médecins Sans Frontières Clinical Officer Jobs in Kenya; The purpose of the Clinical Officer is to Organize and ensure medical consultations to the target population, providing treatment to patients and referring them when appropriate, according to MSF protocols, procedures and universal hygiene standards in order to guarantee quality and efficiency of the services provided.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: Ensure the implementation and standardization of MSF clinical policies, tools, and hygiene protocols to minimize clinical risks and guarantee patient case management.
Applying medical knowledge to obtaining appropriate history from patients, carrying out focused examinations and use of available lab and radiological investigations to arrive at a diagnosis. With the aim of instituting appropriate treatment and prescription in line with the MSF protocol.
Ability to know when to refer a patient early enough to referral centers where they can receive care that cannot be provided within the facility.
Carry out pre-hospital stabilization and trauma room treatment according to protocols in case of an emergency to reduce mortality rates.
Delegates and organize teams during an emergency resuscitation in the emergency room.
Ensure that the patients are triaged based on emergency medical coding system.
Be conversant with the MSF Sexual Violence & Intimate Partner Violence (SV & IPV) Protocol and the processes of offering medicolegal support to survivors in the Kenyan context.
Perform the role of shift clinical team lead with the supervisor's support to ensure quality of care, IPC and commodity management.
Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all patient cases and
records
Record in individual patient’s card and registration books all medical activities (drugs prescribed, lab results, vaccination status, epidemiological activity, doses, etc.) performed keeping data traceability to ensure patients treatment continuity.
Participate in data collecting and reporting when required.
Know and implement Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE), i.e. keeping in contact with all patients, providing them with information regarding their state of health and responding to their questions.
Organize and/or participate in Drills, CMES and other forms of staff service enhancement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Essential Clinical Officer diploma
Experience:
Essential 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
Desirable previous clinical supervision experience of at least one year.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is a must; other local language is a plus
