Médecins Sans Frontières Association Engagement and Communication officer Jobs in Rwanda; The Association Engagement and Communication Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic approaches to support the associative‑governance goals of the MSF EA Board by driving member engagement, coordinating associative activities, managing communications, and fostering dialogue between the Board, MSF Eastern Africa, and Association members. This ensures continuous lines of information, exchange, and accountability remain open and functional.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Responsibilities – Support Engagement within MSF Eastern Africa Association
Develop engagement strategies that promote an active, inclusive, and well‑informed MSF EA Association (EAA).
Facilitate engagement between the MSF EA Board and Association members.
Cultivate a collective associative identity and shared understanding of MSF principles.
Organize and facilitate EAA debates and associative events across the region, including the General Assembly (GA).
Liaise with MSF EA office departments and missions on associative activities.
Recruit new members, administer membership applications, and maintain the database.
Support Associative Engagement in Countries of Operations
Stimulate associative life in the field and organize planned activities.
Support the network of Associative Focal Persons and members.
Collaborate with other Associations to develop trainings with MSF EA Learning & Development Unit.
Organize and facilitate Field Associative Debates (FADs).
Engage with Heads of Mission towards ALF and board priorities.
Manage Association Communications
Develop and implement a communications plan to cultivate a well‑informed membership.
Coordinate timely communication about associative news, events, and topics.
Assist in producing the EAA monthly newsletter and other communication tools.
Coordinate development of the EAA website and moderate online/social media discussions.
Facilitate information flow between members, staff, and the Board.
Prepare, edit, and disseminate reports and outcomes of associative events.
Develop content,
materials, and logistics for events (Mini GAs, Pre/Post GA, IGA, End Year Events).
Other Responsibilities
Participate in international projects and implement new initiatives (e.g., urban spaces initiative).
Integrate EDI & Safeguarding aspects into all policies and practices.
Ensure compliance with data protection laws (Data Protection Act, 2019).
Supervise part‑time volunteers or members for specific projects/events.
Work closely with the MSF EAA/EA Board Officer and replace them when absent.
Participate in annual plans and budget preparation.
Contribute to review, monitoring, and evaluation of annual and strategic plans.
Qualifications
Education
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related disciplines.
Knowledge of Eastern Africa context and global humanitarian affairs.
Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, ERP, CRM.
Knowledge of MSF organizational structure and engagement strategies desirable.
Experience
Previous MSF experience in countries of operations, HQ, or association is a prerequisite.
At least 2 years’ experience in Strategic Communications, Event Planning, or Learning & Development.
Competencies
Technical Competencies
Fluent in English; French, Arabic, and Swahili are an advantage.
Excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
Computer literacy and ability to navigate social media platforms.
