Who You'll Work With

  • You will be based in one of our North America or Europe offices.

  • In this role, you will have global responsibilities for the initiative’s learning programs. This includes helping to design, launch and manage a full learning curriculum that meets the needs of early tenure consultants through partners and potentially clients. This curriculum will encompass a broad spectrum of learning assets including in-person, virtual, digital, performance support, etc.

  • You will work closely with the real estate global learning leader (GLL), program deans, the real estate director of strategy & operations and the director of client capabilities learning. You will be expected to develop excellent working relationships across the regional and service line leadership teams, ensuring that the best content is being leveraged and initiative needs are being met.

  • You will also get involved with elements of the firm’s learning agenda including iconic programs like team leader university (TLU, formerly Cambridge college), L1-2-3, or partner learning depending on the needs of the team. These programs play an important role in building skills, exciting and inspiring consultants to do real estate work, and forging connections with the initiative.

    What You'll Do

  • You will help shape and drive the firm’s capability building for our consultants serving real estate companies and advising companies on their real estate issues.

  • Over the past 5 years, McKinsey has served over 450 clients on real estate topics and is the leading advisor and impact partner on real estate issues. Real Estate (RE) has recently been elevated to a Special Initiative within the firm and the firm is committed to fueling its growth as it continues to scale.

  • With the launch of real estate as a special initiative, there is now a tremendous need for real estate capability building for those serving RE Companies and for those serving their clients (outside of RE) on the real estate they own or occupy.

  • In this role, you will be established as an indispensable member of the team, whose judgments, oversight, and insights into learning matters are greatly valued by the leadership and will contribute to the overall success of the initiative. You will collaborate with real estate leaders and McKinsey academy to define and develop assets that can be effectively used both internally and with clients.

  • You will align learning agenda and curriculum to initiative priorities by working with real estate leaders and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities for learning to support the initiative agendas. You will set short-term and long-term learning priorities at the initiative and senior leader levels and
    will develop and maintain curriculum map/learning journey reflecting assets and priorities.

  • You will collaborate to design and launch a new real estate learning assets and programs working across digital, virtual, and in-person formats. You will identify opportunities for capability building and initiate new projects to fill development gaps.

  • You will work closely with firm learning and client capabilities (C2) learning to align on priorities, ensure application of best practice approaches, and share innovations/improvements from real estate.

  • Working closely with the global learning delivery team, you will manage the delivery of key learning programs, review and qualify participants for real estate learning programs and develop and maintain program content. You will also coach faculty on their role and provide post-program feedback to ensure continuous improvement for the program and growth & development for the faculty team.

  • You will act as an advisor to the real estate community on development opportunities in learning and work with initiative management to foster connectivity. You will forecast demand for future programs and help develop learning calendar for the year and provide input to program objectives and ensure delivery meets objectives for each audience.

    Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree and excellent academic record

  • 5+ years of experience preferred, ideally in a professional services environment, with learning and development and/or talent management experience.

  • Experience applying learning/adult learning principles and approaches.

  • Experience with or knowledge of real estate issues is a plus.

  • Familiarity of how to work within a global environment, interfacing effectively with people from NA, EU, AP.

  • Client relationship skills—in particular, experience acting as a thought partner to senior stakeholders.

  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently.

  • Superb people leadership and project management skills, including the ability to direct multiple simultaneous initiatives and lead/ motivate colleagues in the absence of formal reporting relationships.

  • Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in event/program design.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong sense of team spirit, entrepreneurial and pragmatic way of working.

  • Tolerance for ambiguity.

  • Managerial skills to ensure well-organized and effective program delivery.
