  • The successful candidate will fill in the below position: Clinical Instructor – General Nursing.

    Main Duties:

  • Coordinate clinical presentation to assist students achieve critical thinking.

  • Prepare new students orientation program and implement to ensure quick settlement at the school.

  • Follow students in clinical placements whether outside or within the hospital.

  • Assess practical book regularly to establish level of proficiency attained by the students in conducting procedures.

  • Ensure students’ clinical performance records are completed by ward supervisors one week (1) before the end of placement and such records updated in individual student’s file.

  • Plan and conduct Objective Structured Clinical Examination on specified skills required to be mastered by the students before attending to patients.

  • Plan and coordinate Nursing Council assessments for students within the clinical placements.

  • Ensure that students fill in the skills taught and demonstrated in their practical/
    clinical log books.

  • Record actual work done week-by-week in regards to practical subjects and progress records of individual students’ clinical performance.

  • Produce and distribute course learning objectives as well as student’s schedule to the clinical facilities prior to student attendance at the facility

  • Design master rotations, assessment schedules or any other teaching and learning tool.

  • Communicate with the nursing department as necessary to resolve issues or concerns in the clinical areas.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to revise and evaluate course content and teaching issues.

  • Discuss with students their concerns and/or problems directly
    or indirectly related to the learning experience.

    Required Qualifications for the Position

  • Diploma (KRCHN/KRN/KRM) / Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN)

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid license;

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of classroom and clinical teaching experience at an institution of higher learning;

  • Ability to teach using a variety of methods to effectively engage students in learning

  • Advanced computer skills and understanding of its use in a college setting;

  • Able to counsel and mentor students and staff;

  • Able to lead a large group of students;

  • Able to assess students oral and written work including exam papers;

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills. Able to provide stimulating lectures for students and provide written materials for students.

  • Good organisation skills.
