Responsibilities

  • Devise accurate, realistic and inclusive budgets for MSI’s global programme, for donor funding bids and for sub-departments
  • Prepare annual operational and capital budgets to guide and plan the optimal use of MSI’s and donors’ resources to achieve the organisation’s objectives and maximise impact.
  • Monitor and manage expenditure trends and provide timely advice and analysis of potential over or under spends to the CMT and budget holders, to allow managers to make required adjustments to meet financial goals.
  • Monitor programme support costs and ensure MSI is maximising on cost efficiencies and recoveries.
  • Provide annual training and continuous support to the CMT, budget holders and project managers to ensure proper understanding, ownership of and engagement with financial results and programme budgets.
  • Provide sound financial advice to the country director, the programme board, and other CMT colleagues as appropriate.
  • Oversee and ensure financial systems, procedures and reports, that enable efficient and compliant use of MSI
    funds and assets

    Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in a leadership role for a large division or company.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution of plans to achieve objective and targets.
  • Demonstrated success in formulating policy, and development and implementing strategies and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial management systems and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with computerised Accounting Systems; Knowledge of Sun Systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of donor contract requirements for budgeting and reporting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain contacts with senior-level government and donor officials.
  • Experience of working with colleagues in geographically separate locations.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Qualified Accountant who must be a member of reputable professional body (essential).
  • Degree-educated or equivalent in a business or finance related field (essential).

    Marie Stopes International NGO Director Programmes Job Vacancies in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Participate in national business development and expansion by collaborating effectively with the leadership team.
  • Lead in development of strategic initiatives/plans and co-ordinate the annual business planning process for the organisation.
  • Ensure implementation of MSI’s Success models and provide oversight for the successful
    implementation of all programmes working with any project specific programme directors for
    larger programmes.
  • Ensure excellent grants management and the ultimate success of all donor funded projects by building organisational grants management capacity through training and guidance, monitoring progress of existing grants to ensure compliance, and ensuring donor reports are well written and compliant
  • Lead new business development and grants writing in line with the organisations’ Strategic Plan
  • Maximise efficiencies in outreach, social franchising, public sector strengthening and in voucher projects.
  • Ensure effective coordination across outreach, social franchising and public sector
    strengthening and URHVP service delivery channels, particularly with regards to marketing and social behaviour change communications (SBCC).
  • Strengthen systems and ensure that outreach, social franchising and public sector
    strengthening service delivery channel leads use relevant and appropriate information to inform business decisions and ensure project success.
  • Manage systems for the prevention and detection of fraud and ensure internal controls are strictly adhered to across outreach, social franchising and public sector strengthening service delivery channels.
  • Ensure all Programmes Department staff are trained in Marie Stopes’ approach to fraud and
    bribery as well as all other organisational policies

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience, working at a senior management level in the health sector, preferably reproductive health sector.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and managing complex SRH/FP programmes or
    projects in Uganda (preferably) or other countries in Africa..
  • Proven understanding and effective implementation
    of approaches for actively revitalizing health facilities, public health facility staff and engaging communities, local government, local stakeholders (NGOs, private providers, private sector entities) in the planning, provision, management and
    sustainability of sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
  • S/he shall have demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, host country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies.
  • A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration or a related advanced degree relevant to the areas of Reproductive Health/Family Planning

    Marie Stopes International NGO Director Social Business Job Vacancies in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business plans and strategies for Social Marketing, Centres and Marie Stopes Ladies and Marketing, in order to maximise client use of; and satisfaction with Marie Stopes (MS)clinical services.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services run on a cost recovery basis, determining cost of services across the channels and locations to achieve optimal balance between equity, affordability and
    sustainability.
  • Support excellent grants management and the ultimate success of all donor funded activities by ensuring donor compliance and delivery of donor commitments.
  • Manage the establishment and maintenance of effective clusters of clinical outlets, and collaborative relationships in support of the delivery of high quality client care and referral mechanisms
  • Ensure implementation of MSI’s Success models and staff alignment to the Marie Stopes organizational values and behaviours.
  • Measure results on a continual basis, using analysis to drive improvements performance of MSI’s business channels.
  • Actively manage any third-party distributors to ensure on-going reporting of financial and sales figures, and where
    applicable stock and marketing material needs.
  • Ensure good stock management and no stock outs through forecasting and planning for the business.
  • Work with the ESA Regional Social Marketing Manager and the MS legal team as applicable, and support on product registration and trade mark registration.

    Qualifications

  • At least five years’ experience in Senior Management / Leadership of commercial health programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage income generating health programs
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally develop and coach team members
  • Strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills
  • Experience and knowledge of Ugandan health sector and community health service delivery
  • Solid understanding of healthcare and regulatory requirements and issues
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of management
  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related advanced degree relevant to the areas of public Health and Social Business
