Makini High School Principal Jobs in Kenya;The Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing policies, regulations and procedures to ensure students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets approved curricula and mission of the school.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Direction & Development

  • Formulate overall aims and objectives for the school.

  • Create vision and ethos securing effective teaching and sustained improvement.

  • Secure commitment of parents and community to school direction.

  • Implement strategic plan with sound financial planning.

  • Monitor, evaluate and review policies and targets.

    Academic

  • Offer approved diversified curriculum per Ministry guidelines.

  • Secure and sustain effective teaching and learning.

  • Monitor quality of teaching and student achievement.

  • Ensure stimulating learning in safe environment.

  • Establish creative and effective approaches to teaching.

  • Coordinate internal and external assessments in line with Makini and KNEC standards.

  • Ensure teachers prepare schemes of work and teaching aids.

  • Maintain accurate student performance records and share with parents.

  • Organize parents’ meetings, open days and academic reviews.

    Student Learning & Character Formation

  • Lead guidance and counselling programs.

  • Facilitate communication with students, parents and staff.

  • Integrate spiritual beliefs and core values.

  • Maintain discipline and work ethics among students.

  • Mentor students to choose future careers objectively.

  • Manage student behaviour and apply corrective measures.

    Administration

  • Oversee interviews and admissions.

  • Initiate innovative programs with Directors.

  • Maintain inventory, security and accountability for school property.

  • Liaise with Ministry of Education and community.

  • Ensure health, safety and occupational regulations are observed.

  • Prepare reports, records and paperwork for administration.

  • Liaise with Transport Department for efficient services.

  • Participate in budget formulation and cost management.

  • Handle student medical cases per Makini policy.

  • Ensure amenities are maintained to Makini standards.

  • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment.

  • Set staff targets and goals.

  • Document meetings with parents and teachers.

  • Conduct staff performance appraisals.

    Leadership

  • Provide effective leadership enabling learners to realize potential.

  • Resolve issues involving parents, students and staff.

  • Maintain cordial relationships with other Makini schools.

  • Be a role
    model physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

  • Contribute to teamwork and cooperation among staff.

    Marketing

  • Participate in marketing activities to ensure optimum enrolment.

  • Prepare informational materials reflecting school image.

  • Sensitize staff on Makini mission, vision and values.

    HR Functions

  • Lead, motivate and develop staff to secure improvement.

  • Maximize staff contribution to education quality.

  • Plan, allocate and evaluate staff work.

  • Implement effective staff performance systems.

  • Supervise master roll and staff attendance.

  • Coordinate leave and off‑duty schedules.

  • Foster teamwork and best practice.

  • Drive performance and encourage talent growth.

    Teaching Guide

  • Initiate preparation of schemes of work and teaching aids.

  • Check student work and assessments regularly.

  • Prepare lesson plans and deliver lessons.

  • Research new topics and devise curriculum materials.

  • Undertake pastoral duties and support students individually.

  • Ensure students are prepared for continuous assessments and national exams.

  • Provide remedial support and weekly progress reports.

  • Liaise with teachers and parents to address academic and emotional needs.

    Accountability

  • Be accountable for effective running of the school to Directors and stakeholders.

  • Provide advice and support to Directors.

  • Present accurate accounts of school performance.

  • Ensure parents and students are informed about curriculum and progress.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

  • Minimum 7 years’ teaching experience.

  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience.

  • Registration with Teachers Service Commission.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to inspire, challenge and empower students.

  • Deep understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
