Makini High School English Literature Teacher Jobs in Kenya; Actively encourage and facilitate the formation of each student’s moral character, unique skills, capacities, and talents through continuous improvement in ensuring quality education.
Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and develop the ethos of the school in accordance with directions from the Directors and Principal
Teach a class of students, ensuring planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs
Contribute to constructive team-building among staff, parents, and Directors
Ensure agreed conditions of employment for teachers are met
Implement agreed school policies and guidelines in consultation with the Principal
Support initiatives decided by the Principal and other staff
Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all students through differentiated tasks
Set clear targets based on prior attainment for student learning
Provide a stimulating classroom environment with accessible resources
Keep efficient records of work, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning
Report to parents on student development, progress, and attainment
Maintain good order and discipline in line with the school’s behavior policy
Participate in meetings related to school management, curriculum, and administration
Lead, organize, and direct support staff within the classroom
Participate in the performance management system for effective service delivery
Attend staff meetings, seminars, and co-curricular events
Carry out supervisory duties as required
Assist with out-of-school activities as needed
Ensure prompt and regular student
attendance, reporting absences to the Principal/Deputy Principal
Promote a professional image as a teacher and dress appropriately
Undertake duties reasonably regarded as part of the post; permanent changes will be incorporated into the job description
Perform any other duties as directed by Senior/Middle Leadership Team or delegated authority
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent from a recognized institution
Must be a registered TSC member
Minimum of 3–5 years teaching experience in a recognized international school (preferably Cambridge Curriculum)
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Values
Good knowledge and understanding of current educational issues in specialist subject areas
Strong leadership skills
Interpersonal skills and team spirit
Ability to work with a diverse student body
Self-driven and motivated to inspire, challenge, and empower students
Sound understanding of pastoral care and safeguarding
