Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Direction & Development
Create and communicate a shared vision and strategic plan.
Offer suitable approved curriculum in line with Ministry guidelines.
Translate vision into clear operational objectives.
Motivate stakeholders to create a strong culture of learning.
Ensure learning is central to planning and resource management.
Academic
Implement diverse curriculum and effective assessment framework.
Secure and sustain effective teaching and learning.
Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and pupil achievement.
Ensure innovative teaching methodologies.
Supervise schemes of work and teaching aids.
Coordinate internal and external assessments.
Organize co‑curricular activities, projects, trips and experiential learning.
Supervise accurate pupil performance records and parent meetings.
Implement strategies for high standards of behaviour and attendance.
Student Learning & Character Formation
Lead guidance and counselling programs.
Facilitate consultative communication with pupils, parents and staff.
Integrate sound spiritual beliefs and core values.
Maintain discipline and work ethics among pupils.
Manage behaviour and apply effective measures for misbehaviour.
Administration
Oversee interviews and admissions.
Maintain inventory, security and accountability for school property.
Ensure health, safety and occupational regulations are observed.
Prepare reports, records and paperwork for effective administration.
Handle pupils’ medical cases per Makini policy.
Performance Management
Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment.
Set staff targets and goals.
Document meetings with parents and teachers.
Conduct staff performance appraisals.
Encourage positive reinforcement and continuous improvement.
Leadership
Provide effective leadership to enable each learner to realize potential.
Resolve issues pertaining to parents, pupils and staff.
Maintain cordial relationships with other Makini schools.
Be a role model to pupils and staff.
Contribute to teamwork and cooperation.
Marketing
Participate in marketing activities to ensure optimum enrolment.
Contribute to preparation of informational materials.
Sensitize staff on Makini mission, vision and values.
HR Functions
Maximize staff contribution to improve education quality.
Plan, allocate and evaluate staff work.
Implement effective staff performance systems.
Supervise master roll and staff attendance.
Coordinate leave and off‑duty schedules.
Foster teamwork and best practice.
Teaching
Initiate preparation of schemes of work and teaching aids.
Check pupils’ work and assessments regularly.
Prepare lesson plans and deliver lessons.
Research new topics and devise curriculum materials.
Undertake pastoral duties and support pupils individually.
Ensure pupils are prepared for continuous assessments and national exams.
Provide remedial support and weekly progress reports.
Liaise with teachers and parents to address academic and emotional needs.
Accountability
Be accountable for effective running of the school to Directors and stakeholders.
Provide objective advice and support to Directors.
Present accurate accounts of school performance.
Ensure parents and pupils are informed about curriculum and progress.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
At least 8 years teaching experience, 3 at senior level.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in MS Office suite.
Self‑driven with optimistic behaviour and positive relationships.
