Position summary:

  • The Successful candidate will provide support to the MUWRP PEPFAR program to implement to HIV care and treatment program in line with the GoU/PEPFAR guidelines through strengthening local government systems to offer quality HIV prevention, care and treatment services mainly at Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital. The Medical officer will support care and treatment mainly at Kayunga RR hospital for efficient delivery of quality HIV care and treatment services.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the Diagnosis, treatment and management of HIV positive patients.

  • Evaluate HIV patients and refer them for specialized health care if need be.

  • Participate in capacity building at Kayunga RR hospital through organizing CME’s, cross learning sessions, coaching and mentorship of other health care workers to facilitate effective clinical management for clients in care.

  • To support in identification, diagnosis and management of TB/HIV co-infected cases.

  • Implement care and treatment related programs as approved in the annual workplans e.g. Advanced HIV disease, pharmacovigilance, Cervical cancer Screening & management.

  • Participate in continuous professional development programs.

  • Support the periodic collection of accurate, consistent and timely programmatic data as may be required by MUWRP/PEPFAR/MOH at Kayunga RR hospital to support monitoring & evaluation of the program performance.

  • Work with the relevant District Health Teams/ MUWRP to support and ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

  • Promote observance of the professional code
    of conduct and Ethics.

  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

    Required qualifications, skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medicine (MBChB) and additional training and experience in HIV/AIDS and TB clinical management.

  • Master’s degree in Medicine or Public Health from a recognized University will be of added advantage.

  • At least 5 years of experience working with busy HIV/AIDS and TB clinical service delivery support programs;

  • Knowledge in clinical HIV/AIDS and TB management, including the current national guidelines for HIV prevention, care and treatment and TB management Experience in training and mentoring other healthcare workers.

  • Valid relevant professional practicing license required.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Proficient in interpreting and analyzing diverse data, understand pediatric HIV epidemiology.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve set goals.

  • Ability to meet very tight deadlines.
