Makerere University School of Public Health Qualitative Research Assistants Jobs in Uganda;The STOP‑AMDR Project is an NIH‑funded study on reducing antimalarial drug resistance through the optimal use of multiple ACTs.

The Qualitative Research Assistant will conduct interviews with stakeholders at community, health‑system, and national levels to inform the introduction and scale‑up of Multiple First‑line Therapies in Uganda.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, record, transcribe, and support analysis of qualitative interviews

  • Attend study‑team training and pretesting activities

  • Facilitate entry into communities and workplaces for data collection

  • Administer informed consent and respond to participant questions

  • Participate in team debriefing and data‑quality‑control processes

  • Handle audio files and transcripts securely

  • Transcribe interviews verbatim in English and translate local‑language interviews accurately

  • Participate in coding transcripts using the agreed codebook

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Field Supervisor, Project Coordinator, or investigators

    Qualifications

    Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree

    Experience

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and either Luganda or Lusamia

  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews

  • Demonstrated experience transcribing qualitative
    interviews, including translation from local languages into English

  • Experience coding transcripts using qualitative data‑analysis software (desirable)

    Skills & Qualities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability and willingness to reside in the assigned study district during data collection

  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines

  • Valid certificate in Human Subjects Protection

  • Previous data‑collection experience in the selected district or region (desirable)
