Job Description

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Human Resources or MPA (Master’s degree in Public Administration), Master’s degree in Business Administration (Human Resource option) or
    other master’s degree with a Postgraduate
  • Diploma in Human Resources Management from a recognized institution;

  • An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Social Sciences or Education or other Humanity with a bias in Human Resource Management or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from a recognized Institution;

  • Membership with HR professional body is an added advantage.

    Other Essential Requirements

  • Computer literacy skills;

  • Excellent analytical ability;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Very good tactical and strategic planning skills;

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Human Resource processes;

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills;

  • Team building and conflict management skills;

  • Good leadership and supervisory skills.

    Experience

  • A minimum of 12 years relevant working experience 3 of which must have been at level of Manager in a reputable organization

    Duties/Responsibilities

  • The Director Human Resources will provide overall management and coordination of the human resource function of the University.

  • Initiate, develop, implement and review human resource policies and practices in line with the University strategic plan;

  • Act as a resource to management of HR in the areas of job design, organizational structures and workload distribution;

  • Develop and monitor HRD annual plan in line with the Human Resources Policies;

  • Develop work targets for the Human Resource Directorate in line with the Human Resource Policies;

  • Facilitate the update of HR records, information and knowledge;

  • Participate in various salary, wage and benefit surveys, publications, training or other means
    of sharing/networking; determine the optimal application of this new information or trends for the University and propose implementation to various stakeholders;

  • Provide secretariat services to Committees of Council with a Human Resource component;

  • Mentor and coach Human Resources staff of the University and coordinate training and capacity building activities;

  • Analyze, develop and recommend sound plans, programs and procedures, in the areas of Human Resource planning, compensation, employee recognition and other matters related to employee relations;

  • Formulate, implement and monitor organizational development and change management systems and strategies in line with the University Strategic plan;

  • Introduce and implement competence based Human Resource Management systems;

  • Design and implement performance Management and control systems;

  • Coordinate and implement the payroll and terminal benefits pay schedules as well as the employee wellness programs;

  • Establish measure to ensure consistency in various HR practices as it relates to recruitment, compensation, job descriptions, job profiles including demand analysis and
    specifications, organizational structure among other HR related issues;

  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
