Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, the project Cashier is responsible for handling petty, cash colleting, and receiving from different sources.

  • Further, the project Cashier is responsible for preparing payment vouchers, processing and pay financial transactions.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives cash and checques on a pre numbered Cash Receipt Voucher of MSD;

  • Deposits collected money in the bank intact and submits the Receipt, and bank deposit slip to accounts;

  • Maintains a petty cash and register book and makes payment against written orders or authorizations;

  • Confirms that petty cash payment voucher and supporting documents are complete before effecting payments;

  • Follows-up the settlement of temporary advance payments effected with "Suspense Vouchers” and reports to the supervisor if there are unsettled suspense vouchers;

  • Effects payment of payroll to MSD staff;

  • Obtains receipts and reconciles cash balance with records, clears all advances taken by staff and updates all records on file;

  • Requests for the replenishment of the petty cash when it reaches the minimum limit;

  • Issues cash against properly authorized cash payment vouchers;

  • Prepares payment vouchers;

  • Ensures arithmetic accuracy in all
    transaction;

  • Maintains overall cash security in a safe;

  • Settles organization’s utility expenses monthly

  • Keeps finance documents in a safe and orderly manner;

  • Prepares periodic performance reports and submits to the Finance Officer timely;

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Job Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • Diploma/Certificate (Level 2) in Accounting or related field.

    Experience

  • 3/2 and above year of work experience in relevant field.

  • NGO Experience plus work on USAID funded project is advantageous

    Technical and Other Skills

  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.

  • Computer skills (MS word, Excel, Power Point) and Internet browsing skills;

  • Good written and spoken English language;

  • Good interpersonal skill and ability to communicate information accurately.
