•LVCT Health seeks to fill the position of PHE Lead for the CDC-Dhibiti Project supporting the Implementation of Sustainable, Comprehensive, High-Quality HIV Prevention and Treatment Programs in the Central Region (Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri & Kirinyaga counties) of the Republic of Kenya. The project aims to support the Government of Kenya (GoK) at the National and County level in its HIV and AIDS initiatives in Kenya.


Job Purpose
•The Public Health Evaluation and Documentation Lead is responsible for the Public Health Evaluation and research department of the organization. She/he will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the clinical, implementation, operations, and program effectiveness learning conducted by Dhibiti project in close coordination with the Technical and SI teams. The PHE Lead will directly contribute to generation of a strong evidence base to improve the effective delivery of quality programs under the project.


Key Responsibilities
•Lead and/or oversee all aspects of the Public health evaluation studies/learnings, including development of protocols and data collection instruments, personnel training, implementation, data management/analysis and dissemination
•Work closely with the Technical team under guidance of CDC Science team to identify priority program and public health evaluation questions and identify and evaluate interventions to address key programmatic challenges using strong scientific methodology to inform the program, MOH, and the broader HIV field
•Ensure the highest quality scientific, ethical and regulatory standards for all learning activities
•Supervise and mentors junior study/learning team members to enhance their capacities
•Contributes to capacity building of project
staff, partners, and MOH personnel in the conduct of Public Health Evaluation through trainings, mentoring, and sharing/review of relevant scientific literature
•Participate in preparation of study reports, abstracts and manuscripts and dissemination of results at County, National, and International levels
•Facilitate sharing of experiences across the project and county health departments to improve knowledge and programming
•Any other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
•MD, with either PhD or advanced degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Maternal Child Health, Public Health or HIV related sciences
•Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in Public Health Evaluation, health research in developing countries, including protocol development, design of surveys, training of research staff, data collection, data analysis, and scientific publication elaboration
•Experience in HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health research
•Well published in peer reviewed journals will be an added advantage
