LVCT Health is an established Kenyan NGO that is renowned for the implementation of health programs
at scale in Kenya. Through its vision of Empowered Healthy Communities, LVCT Health is a leader in
designing and implementing innovative HIV prevention and treatment approaches, sexual and
reproductive sexual and gender-based violence programs reaching the most vulnerable populations.

The organization works with the government and other stakeholders at national and county levels.
The USAID Stawisha Pwani is a 5-year program funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to increase the use of quality county-led health services in four Coastal counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Taita Taveta.

The aim of the program is to strengthen county health systems with a focus on HIV Prevention & Treatment, Family Planning, Reproductive, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (FP/ RMNCAH) and Nutrition. The program will support the four county governments toward sustainability in quality and systems of health services.

The Program Objectives are:

• Increased demand for and access to quality HIV prevention services.

• Increased demand for and access to quality HIV treatment services.

• Use of quality FP, Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child & Adolescent Health and Nutrition
services (FP/RMNCAH).

• Strengthened capacity of county health systems, local partners and communities to deliver quality
health services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake routine communications support assignments

• Interview respondents and write stories/reports

• Gather story idIeas and write/produce human interest stories on diverse issues

• Assist in photography and video coverage for USAID Stawisha Pwani project events and activities

• Assist in editing videos and photos

• Social media and digital communication

• Graphic
design

• Track and keep record (newspaper cuttings) of HIV, health and other stories related to

• USAID Stawisha Pwani mandate appearing in the newspapers and online (video clips, articles and
blogs)

• Update USAID Stawisha Pwani online platforms with news content

• Assist in maintaining the USAID Stawisha Pwani shared folder – especially the communication
section by ensuring relevant content (photos, videos and articles) are up-to date other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in; Communications, or Public Relations

• Willingness to learn by taking up the internship for a period of 3 months

• Must be computer literate (Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

• An effective communicator, both written and oral

• An eloquent and bold speaker with good verbal and written English and Kiswahili

• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with health and community contacts

• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated ability and interest to write human stories on diverse issues

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of Word press
and graphic design is a plus
