Specific Objectives

  • Train two Fish Production and Marketing Cooperatives in cooperative principles and business skills.
  • Help and guide the two Fish Production and Marketing cooperatives to develop functional bylaws
  • Help and guide the two cooperatives to develop functional business plans.
  • Develop a comprehensive training manual on cooperative principles , Cooperatives management, cooperative business skills and Marketing

    Training outcomes:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the nature, purpose, operations, structure and regulatory framework of co-operatives in general
  • Motivate the members and the managing committee to participate in the Management of cooperative Enterprises.
  • Achieve the enterprise goals by meeting the member as well as national goals.
  • To enrich the managers working in cooperatives by improving their conceptual capabilities in understanding the managerial problems of cooperatives.
  • Upgrading their skills and abilities to use appropriate techniques for managing cooperatives and developing attitude for achieving excellence in cooperative management and administration.
  • Link the rich historical background of cooperatives to modern societal needs, understand and manage the changing /evolving business and social environment of co-operatives
  • Supervise and advise members and elected officers on the operations and formation of co-operative business
  • Manage a co-operative as a business enterprise combining modern management techniques and the values and principles associated with cooperatives
  • Manage the resources of the co-operative in a manner that reflects the people centeredness and true nature of co-operative societies

    Consultant experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Cooperatives Management, Economics or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of church structures and experience with related agencies and ecumenical partners, NGOs etc;;
  • At least 5 years of experience working on related activities with expertise in cooperative groups’ management.
  • Clear, effective writer in English.
  • Experience of working with participatory methodologies

    Deliverables

  • Submit technical and financial expectations with training outline indicating internalization of the Terms of Reference and lay out of methodology to be used and a clear timed work plan for executing the assignment.
  • Prepare a training curriculum; content covering in details both theory and practical sessions which will be covered during the training.
  • Consultants work plan based on the estimated period detailed below in Appendix 1: Study Work Plan and Budget
  • A draft and final training report to be submitted to LWF upon completion of the training.
  • A Draft and Final Training Manual

    Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in fishery/ animal science, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on related activities with expertise in fish production
  • Clear, effective writer in English.
  • Experience of working with participatory methodologies
