Job Description

About us:

  • The Lovegrass Agro Processing is a gluten free grain processing facility based in Sululta, just on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We supply value added gluten free products to the local and international markets.

  • Our products range from cleaned and milled grain to a wide variety of extruded goods. We have a supportive, and ambitious team that is focused on meeting our customer’s needs.

    Objectives of the position:

  • The Senior Maintenance Personnel is responsible for the management and supervision of the maintenance department at Lovegrass Agro Processing.

  • These duties include the coordination and scheduling of repairs, work orders, and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment for all shifts.

  • In addition, the Senior Maintenance Personnel will be required to help assure that all company manufactured and distributed products, and manufacturing/warehousing processes meet all necessary requirements.

    Responsibilities:

  • Care for machinery and equipment by completing preventative maintenance.

  • Ensure work area and equipment is always kept clean and orderly.

  • Daily examination of equipment for assigned area to identify signs of excessive wear, defects, and damage. Repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they are always in proper working order.

  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas or to install new or repaired parts.

  • Ensure that all production equipment is maintained and repaired in a manner which meets company standards and minimizes downtime.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for assignments, machine repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance logs.

  • Prioritize work assignments to ensure efficiency and that production schedules can be met

  • Coordinates with production the scheduling of repair and maintenance work.

  • Train other Maintenance Mechanics as required.

  • Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process. Observe and promote all plant safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) specifications.

  • Study manufacturer manuals and
    blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly acquired machinery or making repairs.

  • Attend training both off site and on site as needed.

  • Manage, train and develop maintenance department personnel.

  • Ensure consistent communication and enforcement of company policies, quality standards, food safety, GMP’s, sanitation, and safety in a productive and efficient workplace.

  • Maintains the spare parts inventory.
    Develops and updates Working Instructions as needed.

  • Process all injury reports and correct any unsafe conditions in the workplace as soon as possible.

  • Perform any other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.

    Job Requirements

    Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Level 4-5 in mechanical engineering or related fields.

  • 2 years of maintenance management experience or more.

  • Familiarity with employee safety requirements.

  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Broad depth of experience and knowledge of food production machinery and equipment is a plus.

  • Experience working with flour extruding systems a plus.

  • Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated.

  • Must be able to understand and follow work an instruction in English, Amharic, and Oromifaa is a plus.

    Job Skills

  • Basic computer skills to complete required training and/or tasks.

  • Ability to identify parts and supplies needed to complete job tasks.

  • Ability to verbally communicate material effectively in a training environment.

  • Ability to read and understand manuals/instructions, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Ability to work as team and in individual situations.

  • Ability to communicate both written and orally to other team members and management about daily assignments.

  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and an entrepreneurial spirit.
