Lira University Senior Lecturer Department of Science and Vocational Education Jobs in Uganda

Purpose of the Job

To take a lead role in research, teaching and curriculum development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaches postgraduate and undergraduates Students.

Provides monitoring and enhancement of quality teaching within the department.

Participates in University staff development initiatives related to learning and teaching.

Supervises undergraduate and graduate students.

Develops innovative and attractive courses, shapes and influences curriculum development and actively contributes to the review of courses in accordance to the departmental strategy.

Engages with other researchers internally, nationally and internationally and contribute to
the research objectives of the University.

Advises, mentors and supports junior colleagues.

Supervises the work of others for example in research teams and postgraduate studies.

Plans, coordinates and conducts operational research in his/her specialty.

Assesses and grades students in the University.

Any other duties that may be assigned to him/her by the supervisor.

Person Specifications

PhD degree in Mathematics or PhD degree in Mathematics Education from a recognized
Institution.

Masters of Science degree in Mathematics or Master of Education degree (Mathematics
Education) from a recognized Institution.

Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics or Bachelor of Science degree with education
(Physical) from a recognized Institution.

Five (5) recognized publications in the area of specialization and at least two (2) of the
publications within the last three years at the time of application.

Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.

Evidence of community engagement.
