Lions Sightfirst Eye Hospital Ground Staff Jobs in Kenya; The Grounds Supervisor oversees the maintenance, cleanliness, and appearance of the hospital’s outdoor environment.
The role ensures that grounds, gardens, walkways, parking areas, and surrounding premises are safe, clean, well‑maintained, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of grounds maintenance staff.
Ensure hospital grounds, gardens, lawns, walkways, parking areas, and external facilities are maintained to high standards.
Develop and implement schedules for landscaping, gardening, irrigation, pruning, and general maintenance.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, ensuring litter and debris are promptly removed.
Oversee planting, lawn care, and beautification initiatives to enhance the hospital environment.
Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of grounds equipment and tools.
Monitor irrigation systems and ensure efficient use of water resources.
Identify and address safety hazards within hospital grounds.
Coordinate pest and vegetation control activities with service providers.
Manage inventory of grounds maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
Supervise contractors undertaking landscaping or external maintenance works.
Prepare reports on grounds maintenance activities, resource needs, and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Environmental Management, Landscaping, Agriculture, or Facilities Management.
Diploma with supervisory experience may be considered.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or environmental management.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Experience managing landscaping projects, irrigation systems, and outdoor maintenance.
Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices
preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
Knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, and grounds maintenance practices.
