Lions Sightfirst Eye Hospital Biller Jobs in Kenya; The Hospital Biller is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, timely and compliant billing for hospital services. The role supports the hospital revenue cycle by capturing all chargeable services, maintaining patient accounts, preparing insurance claims and resolving billing‑related issues.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Generate accurate patient bills for outpatient and inpatient services.
Ensure consultations, procedures, investigations, medications and consumables are captured and billed.
Verify charges against hospital tariffs and investigate discrepancies.
Review patient accounts for completeness before discharge or closure.
Prepare invoices, statements, receipts and billing documentation.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefit information.
Obtain and document required pre‑authorisations.
Prepare and submit accurate insurance and third‑party claims.
Follow up outstanding, rejected, queried and denied claims.
Maintain updated claims follow‑up register and reduce aged receivables.
Collaborate with clinical, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, theatre, medical records, insurance and finance teams.
Identify recurring billing errors, revenue leakage and escalate process gaps.
Enter and maintain billing information in hospital information system.
Maintain confidentiality of patient, insurance and financial data.
Prepare billing, claims, reconciliation and outstanding balance reports.
Support continuous improvement of revenue‑cycle processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Health Administration or related field.
Training or certification in medical billing, insurance claims or revenue‑cycle management (advantageous).
Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in hospital billing, insurance claims or healthcare finance.
Experience with medical insurance and third‑party payer processes preferred.
Experience using hospital
information systems preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of hospital billing and revenue‑cycle processes.
Understanding of medical insurance and claims procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and hospital systems.
Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
Good planning, organization and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
High professionalism, accountability and customer service orientation.
