Job Purpose: The primary job function of the Audit Associate – Internal Audit is to verify the financial status and operating procedures of the institution through a systematic program of audits.
Interacts with administrative and enforcement agencies, Security team; monitors systems and solves problems.
Scope of Services
Risk Assessment and Risk Management
Perform continuous risk assessment on the company in relation to business risks, operational and financial risks. This is to be performed while considering the internal and external environment of the company.
Assist in preparation of annual internal audit plan
Provides training to company departments as requested.
Audit Plan Implementation
Performance of audit work, including plan preparation, work-papers, finding, and associated reports; verifying the accuracy of financial records as they pertain to assets, liabilities, receipts, expenditures, and related transactions.
Performance of exit and entry meetings during the audit exercises
Investigate reported occurrences of fraud, embezzlement, theft, waste, and provide remedial measures alongside security department (where applicable) and report to the Internal Audit Manager
Analyze and evaluate accounting information/ reports/ data
Compliance
Review and report on the compliance of the company/business segments to various legal, statutory and operational standards, e.g.:
Statutory Compliance and Payment (NHIF, PAYE, NSSF, etc.)
Tax compliance
Compliance to local authorities (Licenses and Permits) through the security department.
Ensure compliance to the required best practices the safeguarding of company documents, property and staff.
Compliance to company policies and procedures and ensure best practice in the company’s operations.
Training and Development
Attend professional forums, or learning forums to keep abreast of changes in laws or new technologies impacting audit and security industry /techniques
Prepare
and facilitate
Any other duties as assigned by, Senior Assoctate Security and Internal Audit Manager.
Key Performance Indicators
Measurable Deliverables
100% completed audits/assessments for highest risk areas presented to board
80% implementation of scheduled audit plan activities/projects
Preparation and presentation of audit report within 30 days of completion of the audit.
60% Implementation/Adoption of recommendations from compliance audits
Minimize net wastage to below 1% gross sales KSh 10,000,000
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
A Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field
CPA (K)
Experience
7 years background Experience
Technical Skills / Leadership Competencies
Understanding best practices in Industry procedures.
Analytical skills
Good working knowledge of IFRS/ISA/IAS and the Laws of Kenya
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Planning and Execution.
Problem solving & decision making
Membership to a professional body such as ICPAK or IIA
Good knowledge of industry practices, procedures, regulations, and laws
Good knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices.
Good knowledge of the standards for the professional practice of internal auditing and the code of ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
