Key Performance Areas

Services and Repairs to Roads Plant and Equipment

  • Receive job card and stabilise machine/vehicle.

  • Warm engine, drain oil, reinstall drain plug.

  • Remove filters (oil, fuel, air), examine debris, install new filters.

  • Refill oil, check for leaks and level, test drive.

    Service Functions

  • Check working area for safety.

  • Determine and state problem in writing.

  • Conduct visual inspection for leaks, bolts, cracks.

  • Fix problem, re‑test, analyse failure and list causes.

  • Run test, record information, eliminate and isolate issues.

    Mechanical Expertise

  • Carry out services per category and standards.

  • Conduct visual and pre‑checks before and after service/repairs.

  • Compile inspection sheet and full report of findings.

  • Complete job cards after repairs or service.

    Pre‑Inspection for Additional Defects

  • Dismantle, lay out and check worn parts.

  • Repair or replace parts and re‑assemble.

  • Clean object/part and test.

    Administrative Functions

  • Provide inputs for technical reports.

  • Maintain job records and registers.

  • Adhere to agreed development plan.

    Prerequisites

  • Appropriate Trade Test Certificate as Diesel Mechanic.

  • Valid driver’s license (except applicants with disabilities).
