The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the effective and efficient execution of project activities, as well as providing capacity development-related support to project teams. He/she ensures compliance with Light for the World’s policies, donor requirements, and national laws.

The PM will report to and work under the guidance of the Head of programmes, and in close coordination with the Manager Disability Inclusion Advisory Unit (DIAU)and implementing partners, Monitoring Evaluation Research Learning and Adaptation (MERLA) team as well as the Operations and Finance teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Plans, organizes, and manages the implementation of activities as described in the project proposal in line with donor requirements, and annual plan.

  • Oversees quality assurance of work plans, ensuring they are up-to-date, comprehensive, and logical.

  • Manages project budget and ensures expenses are incurred in line with the approved budget.

  • Monitors and reports any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.

  • Ensures the project managed is compliant with all contractual obligations and that internal policies are implemented.

  • In collaboration with field teams and the Operations Department, manage the procurement of project equipment and supplies.

  • Ensures monthly review of working budgets against expenditures with responsible staff and partners.

    People Management

  • Line manages and provides coaching and (peer) support to the project team to contribute to and ensure quality work.

  • Coaches and mentors project staff as part of their professional development to fulfill their roles well.

    Partnership Management

  • Identifies capacity gaps of partner that need strengthening interventions, and coordinates with relevant colleagues to address them.

  • Identifies technical challenges and quality optimisation potential in the project and coordinates with relevant advisors and technical staff to find solutions.

  • Provides technical support to partner in the respective thematic areas through dialogue and sharing information and documentation.

  • Strengthens project management capacity of partner staff throughout the collaboration (effective execution and monitoring of activities).

    Networking and
    representation


  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with local authorities, project implementing and coordinating partners, and other key project-specific sector actors.

  • Represents Light for the World in relevant forums such as cluster meetings within the settlement and areas of jurisdiction.

  • Identifies opportunities and partnerships that may be relevant for Light for the World beyond thematic and programmatic responsibility and refers them for appropriate action.

  • Represents ountry Director or Head of Programmes as maybe delegated.

    Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Engages the MERLA team in the development of monitoring tools and reporting formats and ensures partner compliance for reporting and quality control of APOM data under the role holder's portfolio.

  • Coordinates writing of reports, proofreading and editing with limited quality assurance required by the Head of Programmes.

  • Compiles best practice and learning documentation and communication in collaboration with MERLA team.

    Requirements

  • Master’s degree in development studies, Economics, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Programme Management or related field of study.

  • Minimum of 5 years of project management and grant management experience in humanitarian response.

  • Professional experience in food and nutrition security, private sector engagement, financial inclusion, and youth employment models.

  • Excellent people skills with experience in collaborating in a diverse and dynamic team

  • Knowledge and experience of disability inclusion and/or working with organizations of persons with disabilities

  • Experience in partnership management, including government liaisons.

  • Proven effectiveness in leading and coaching professionals.

  • High levels of integrity, accountability, and honesty.

  • Commitment to Light for the World’s mandate and values.
