Job Vacancies:
  • Insurance Underwriters

    Our client is a local Insurance Broker with over 25 years in operations.

    They seek to recruit Two underwriters (one Medical and one General) who will be based in Nairobi.

    Location:

  • Nairobi

    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Examining insurance proposals
    Collecting background information and assessments of risk
  • Analyzing statistical data using specialist computer programmes
  • Writing quotes and negotiating the terms with brokers and clients
  • Determining appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage
  • Preparing insurance policies terms and conditions
  • Liaising with insurance brokers and customers
  • Analyze information in insurance applications
  • Screening applicants on the basis of set criteria
  • Evaluating recommendations from underwriting software
  • Counsel clients on risk management solutions, negotiates terms and contracts
  • Keep abreast of the current industry trends through development of a good working relationship with brokers and other sources of industry news and developments.
  • Writing policies and adding specific conditions when required

    Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science or any other related discipline
  • Professional Insurance certification will be an added advantage
  • Effective analytical skills
  • Outgoing and a natural marketer
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence others
  • Confident decision-making skills
  • Numeracy and statistical skills
  • Problem-solving skills and a logical approach to work;
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
