Primary Functions

  • The Research, Publication and Networking Coordinator will primarily coordinate research activities, undertake necessary steps to publish the research outputs and work on networking the LHR with stakeholders.

    Major Roles and Responsibilities

    The Research, Publication and Networking Coordinator will have following roles and responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates and follows up research activities undertaken under LHR’s auspices;

  • Recruits and coordinates researchers and/or volunteers in collaboration with the Executive Director;

  • Supervises and coordinates the provision of support services to researchers;

  • Identifies areas to undertake researches in house when appropriate and coordinates the same;

  • Monitors the progress of research projects develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies;

  • Writes, drafts and/or edits, and submits for final approval: press releases, articles, newsletter submissions, indices, handbooks, bulletins, and/or scholarly works;

  • Reviews, proofs and fact-checks all copy, and may perform layout work of a detailed and complex nature;

  • Oversees all aspects of publication productions; copy editing, fact checking and quality assurance stages; often using desktop publishing or other publication-specific software tools;

  • Plans how to disseminate publications, coordinates production schedules and printing deadlines; troubleshoots and remedies related issues;

  • May serve as liaison to researchers and others directly involved in the published work: edits submissions, conveys editorial comments, resolves issues and
    ensures deadlines are met;

  • May assist in other program activities when necessary;

  • Facilitate networking activities with relevant stakeholders and solicit funds as per LHR’s annual plan.

    Job Requirements

  • Excellent research, analytical, organizational, time management, project management, administrative and computer skills.

  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills culminating in results-oriented & problem solving.

  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and complete assignments with minimal supervision, while producing high quality work.

  • Highly organized, effective attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and excellent follow-through.

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.

  • Strong decision-making skills.

  • A desire to learn and advance.

  • Ability to assimilate ideas and work with diverse individuals with varying perspectives.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

    Expertise Required

  • At least Master’s Degree in Law, political science and international relations with focus on human rights issues;

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in research, publication and networking;

  • Strong analytical, research, field assessment and report writing skills;

  • Familiarity with the context of CSOs in Ethiopia and human rights situations in the country;
